Scope/Description: The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport required a 25 year vison for the transport in the Province that in broader terms will map out the background, objectives, key initiatives and projects and key role-players that will be central to the implementation of the Plan over the next 25 years. The purpose of the plan is to enable the GDRT to regulate, plan and develop an efficient and well-integrated transport system that serves the public interest by enhancing mobility and delivering safe, secure, affordable and environmentally sustainable public and private transport services.
Responsibilities: I was the technical lead, responsible for all aspects of public transport that was required to be addressed as part of the 25-year plan. As part of a team of subject matter experts, extensive collaboration was required to develop a Master Plan that was integrated with strategies that is aligned to reach a unified goal. My technical input included the establishment of the concept that focuses on the role of modes in a network hierarchy, the conceptual design of a Provincial Integrated Public Transport Network and the development of several strategies that aims to improve the overall public transport offering.
